The Explorer Information and Layouts

The Explorer takes a maximum of 16 divers
in eight cabins. All cabins have twin-bed accommodation with
the bathrooms and toilets (heads) just down the hall from your
cabin. She is a basic-style boat, but well run and quite comfortable,
especially for the price. She is very popular and full on most
of her trips throughout the year.
She
offers four-day and four-nights trips during most of the season.
These trips go to the Similan Islands and the dive sites north
of there, Ko Bon, Ko Tachai, and Richelieu Rock. At the beginning
and end of the season, she does three-day and three-night trips
only to the Similans Islands.
The Thai and foreign crew take good care of you
while on board, the Thai crew handling the boat operation and
service, and the foreign divemasters and instructors take care
of the diving end. You can dive with a divemaster any time you
would like, and thorough briefings are given before each dive.
On the upper deck of the boat you'll find the wheelhouse
and the guest's saloon. All meals are served in the open air where
the view is best. There is protection from rain and wind with
pull-down blinds.
The
main deck is where you will be sleeping and each twin-bed cabin
is located on either side of a central walkway, four cabins on
each side. The dive deck is located conveniently close to the
dive platform, so diving--the reason you're here--is just a few
steps from your cabin. The dive deck is intelligently laid out,
with filling hoses going right to your own personal dive station.
Regulators and BCD's are set up the first night out, and they
stay set up the whole time you're onboard. The crew handles any
carrying of equipment and will assist you in getting in and out
of the water. The dive ladders are easy to use. There are two
showers on the dive deck for a quick after-dive rinse.
Safety on board is a top priority and the vessel
is equipped with a comprehensive first aid kit, life jackets,
fire extinguishers and a DAN Oxygen kit. In the wheel house are
GPS chart plotters and depth sounders to insure correct navigation
of the vessel during periods of low visibility. The M/V Explorer is equipped with a closed circuit video systems
that cover the engine room and the dive platform area to insure
that our crew can monitor all areas of the vessel at all times.
The Explorer is great value for money,
and the very helpful crew will ensure a very enjoyable trip.
