MY Pelagian Liveaboard Details

Pelagian's background and history
The Pelagian was built at the Batservice Verft A/S Shipyard in Mandal, Norway, as a elegant world-ranging motor yacht. Her construction was to Lloyd's +100A1 yacht and +LMC classification, and she was stoutly built to travel the world's oceans in comfort, safety and style.
Pelagian cruises at 9-knots and she has a range of over 8,000 nautical miles! Onboard water makers and over 20,000 liters of fresh water in the tanks mean that we don't need to worry about having an extra shower or rinsing our cameras one more time.
She has operated all over the world, in the Red Sea and the Seychelles, in Thailand and Burma, all throughout the South Pacific, and end-to-end of the Indonesian Archipelago. Now based at Wakatobi, she has access to some of Indonesia's most remote diving, the Banda Sea, with the added convenience of easy logistics and wonderful consistent shore support.
Cruising the Greater Wakatobi Area
Wakatobi Resorts is proud to announce that the renowned Pelagian liveaboard is part of the Wakatobi team and will now be cruising the Western Banda Sea & Greater Wakatobi Area. The Pelagian will offer guests unparalleled access to sites previously inaccessible from the resort, cruising the reefs of the greater Wakatobi region and beyond.
As part of the Wakatobi team, the MY Pelagian will also contribute substantially to the ground-breaking marine conservation and community development programs pioneered by the resort. As such, the Pelagian will have exclusive access to key areas of protected reefs in the Wakatobi region.
And a Plane to Get You There
Transportation arrangements to and from the Pelagian will now be easier than ever. Guests can simply book their flights into the convenient international hub of Bali. From there, guests can relax one night, or if they choose, tour Bali on an extended stay. From Bali, Wakatobi's exclusive non-stop flight service will take guests right to the resort's private airstrip, where they will be transferred directly to the Pelagian. Gone are the hassles of connections into strange remote airports, last-minute rushes, long check-in lines, or excess baggage charges. No other liveaboard in Indonesia offers you this convenience!
Quiet, Refined Luxury
A Unique Liveaboard Experience
More than a just another dive boat, the Pelagian is really a luxury yacht disguised as dive liveaboard. True to its name "of the open ocean", the Pelagian has sailed the world, playing host to renowned underwater photographers, adventurous divers, documentary makers, magazine feature writers and has been used for filming television specials. With her spacious cabins, limited number of passengers, and fine amenities, it is easy to see why the Pelagian has been worthy of the numerous accolades received from its privileged clientele.
Fresh from a refit, the Pelagian now sports a new executive chef in addition to being overseen by the steady hand of the Wakatobi's management team. The Pelagian schedule will mirror that of the Wakatobi Resort, allowing for a variety of unique dive experiences, including combinations of Pelagian and Wakatobi Dive Resort holidays.
A Room for Every Taste and Most Budgets
There are four different types of cabins spread from the bow to the stern of the boat. The boat is not laid out along typical liveaboard lines (long hallway, right and left of it, you know, you've been there). The boat is large anyway, but feels larger and more private simply because most cabins have a private or semi-private way to get to it. The master is the most spacious, and is really a suite; the "superlux" or super deluxe cabin has two beds plus a comfortable seating area; the two deluxe cabins are unique in that they are long so the beds are end-to-end and not facing each other thus two strangers sleeping in the same cabin feel more comfortable. Finally, the two standard cabins each have twin beds. All cabins have private baths of course.
Diving: Made Easy Through Good Design
Since the Pelagian has a fantail stern, guests don't enter the water in the traditional way. Remember, Pelagian was built originally as a private yacht not as a liveaboard dive boat. Thus the owners have devised a very intelligent system of using tenders to dive from the mother ship. Pelagian is so large anyway that she would be difficult to dive from in an open ocean environment. Tanks are loaded by the ever helpful crew into the two rigid bottom inflatables from the sides of the vessel and then you are whisked off to the dive site where the tenders wait for the divers to enjoy their dives. These tenders are equipped with hand held radios, depth sounders, and even GPS. Also, with the two 60Hp four-stroke outboard engines, not only are they fast, but they are more environmentally sound than two-stroke engines (as well as more reliable).
