MV Jazz Liveaboard: Details

MV Jazz swings comfort and quality at a price that is hard to beat a drum stick at. She'll offer four-day and four-night Thailand trips serenading you with all the best diving at the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock, and then immediately after take you on an unforgettable sentimental journey to the Mergui Archipelago in Burma (Myanmar). She will be one of the more inexpensive boats to visit Mergui, while providing the necessary safety equipment and a reasonable comfort level for most people. Who ever said you had to drop a lot of cash to hang out with the in crowd? If you're not that picky about luxurious surroundings, the cabins are close enough for Jazz

It Don't Mean a Thing...

The Jazz will take a maximum of 14 persons in seven air conditioned en suite cabins all with private bathrooms. She has both twin and double-bed cabins so is able to accommodate couples as well as singles easily and comfortably. Though rather basic in appearance, she is still a comfortable and sea-worthy vessel. All of her bathrooms have hot water showers, a sink, and a regular flush toilet. Two of the cabins are on the main deck, the others are on the lower deck.

Feels So Good

The Jazz will take a maximum of 14 persons in seven air conditioned en suite cabins all with private bathrooms. She has both twin and double-bed cabins so is able to accommodate couples as well as singles easily and comfortably. Though rather basic in appearance, she is still a comfortable and sea-worthy vessel. All of her bathrooms have hot water showers, a sink, and a regular flush toilet. Two of the cabins are on the main deck, the others are on the lower deck.

Her large interior saloon is forward on the main deck and it offers a comfortable seating area both with benches and with Thai-style cushions on the floor, as well as an area for dining or watching a movie on the TV. She has DVD and a TV to plug in your digital still or video camera. It's a great place to hang between dives while you're doing the back beat.

Nothin' But Blue Skies…

Outside on the top deck you'll find another social area, where we generally eat our meals and hang out when the weather is good (which it is most of the time here). There is a small bar here for drinks and the ever helpful crew can get you snacks or drinks when you want. You can catch some rays on the forward deck near the wheelhouse.

Ain't Misbehavin'

Her dive deck is well laid out and spacious, with plenty of room for storing your equipment during the dive trip. We fill the tanks in their spots from two Bauer compressors. The benches are comfortable for suiting up, and there are storage bins below your tank for bits and pieces (or your harmonica). Wetsuits can be hung up so they dry between dives. Our two four-meter (14ft) dinghies with outboard engines pick you up or drop you off at the dive sites depending on where we are. Or, they can whisk you to a private beach somewhere to spend quality time between dives (or practice your blues scales).

The crew is well trained and committed to the environment. You'll learn a lot during your trip, and the experienced divemasters know where to take you to find all the cool stuff you want to see. We invite you to relax and enjoy the cool sounds of the MV Jazz. Her crew stays tuned to your needs, and the beat of her trips are steady and mellow.

Come Away With Me

The MV Jazz will offer an extremely flexible itinerary designed to take you diving where you want to go, when you want to go. The boat will be based in Phuket and the first leg of the trip will be in Thailand through the Similans and Surin Islands, ending in Ranong, just across the border from Burma. The second leg will spend four-days diving in the Mergui Archipelago (Burma), returning to Thap Lamu near Khao Lak and Phuket. All this at a budget that many more people can afford compared to other boats doing these types of trips. Click here for a detailed itinerary.

Beyond The Sea

The areas in Mergui Archipelago are some of the last unspoiled island areas in the Indian Ocean. We'll show you the best of these islands by anchoring in small secluded bays where you'll be all by yourself--surrounded by the stars above and bioluminescence in the water. With the moonlight hitting the shore and a billion stars around you, you'll feel like you're a million miles from home. Between dives take a dinghy to the beach and take a walk along shores very few people have walked on. It's quite a gig. At less than a thousand US dollars for a scuba diving liveaboard trip on this quality boat, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere. Follow the music further, all the way to the ends of the earth.
