SY Siam Junk: Details

The Build

The Siam Junk is built from the finest Asian teak and ironwood, and furnished with beautiful hand-crafted decorations and ornaments fashioned bylocal artisans. She is some 34m long and over 7m wide, ensuring ample space for all on board. The twin masts are junk-rigged with traditional style sails that are both beautiful and functional: when the weather is suitable she is gently wafted along by the wind. At other times the 500bhp diesel engine ensures she makes her destination, cruising at a sedate 8 to 10 knots.

Insurance & Accreditation

The vessel is insured for up to 60 passengers and fully licensed by the Tourist Authority of Thailand for operations from our base in Phuket. We have comprehensive passenger liability insurance with Vhiriya Insurance Company as well as our own insurance for our staff and The Siam Junk.

Health & Safety

We have exceeded the minimum safety regulations laid out by the Thai Marine Department and have 2X 25 man blue water life rafts, a powerful Zodiac tender for 12 passengers, a smaller dinghy for 5 passengers, 75 life jackets (including infant life jackets), marine grade first aid kit, emergency locator beacons, hand-held flares and parachute flares. The crew is well experienced – our captain has been piloting large merchant ships in SE Asian waters for over twenty years. The welfare of all on board is paramount.

Accommodation

With such incredibly spacious suites our guests feel like they are experiencing the comfort of a luxury villa rather than a cabin on a boat – with the magical difference that the location and view change every day! All six bedrooms are finished to a sumptuous standard and come with king size beds, en-suite bathrooms with powerful hot and cold water showers, hot and cold water wash basins, full sized WC, hairdryer and complimentary bathrobes. With additional bunk beds and convertible tables the overnight accommodation increases from six couples in double bedded rooms to a maximum of twenty guests sharing.

State Rooms - VIP suites

The Sea Breeze Suite is situated on the stern at the upper level of the boat commanding panoramic views from the windows and patio style doors. A private sun deck extends the internal area to a total of some 60sqm. For families it is possible to include two extra double beds in the Sea Breeze Suite. The air-conditioned Siam Suite is located below deck at the bow of the boat and measures some 37 sqm internally, the curved hull and raised bed creating a wonderful tiered effect. The large bathroom contains a spa shower and WC.

Executive double suites

All four Executive Suites are air-conditioned, very spacious and inviting. They each boast a king-sized double bed and spa showers cunningly disguised behind triple folding doors featuring traditional teak carvings. Each pair of below deck suites incorporates inter-connecting doors for the convenience of families.

Sundecks

With over 240sqm of sundecks split over two levels there is ample space for everyone to enjoy The Siam Junk’s warm character and classic charm. A rear dive platform extends from the bar & dining salon – a popular area for clients wishing to relax in the shade, sip a cocktail or two, and watch as the tropical sun lights up the sky before it gently dips below the horizon.

Galley & Restaurant

The well equipped galley provides a fully functional restaurant kitchen capable of producing international cuisine. Our chef will conjure up gourmet western meals or tempt your palate with the exotic flavors of Asia, all served with a fine wine of your choice. Over fifty covers can be served for fine dining events.

Transport

We offer a fully insured and reliable pickup service for your customers in air conditioned late model vehicles, including from locations outside of Phuket. Prices are available on request.
